Testosterone is an androgen steroid hormone which is naturally produced in the body of humans and other mammals. This hormone is primarily produced by the testicles in males and in a much smaller amount in the overies of females. Testosterone is the primary male sex hormone and can also be obtained in the form of an anabolic steroid. Testosterone plays a key role in the development of male sexual characters like increased muscle and bone mass and body hair. Testosterone also plays an important role in the development of reproductive tissues such as the testis and prostate. In addition to these important roles, the testosterone hormone is also essential for health and overall well-being and helps in the prevention of osteoporosis.
Testosterone is much more abundant in males than females with healthy adult males having around 7 to 8 times more testosterone than in healthy adult females. It should be noted that females are much more sensitive to testosterone and therefore females should be cautious as to the dosage of testosterone they put into their bodies if undergoing hormone therapy. Too much testosterone in females can have a side effect of promoting the development of masculine characters like chest hair, beard and a bigger stronger muscular physique to name a few.
When undergoing TRT (testosterone replacement therapy) or a testosterone based bulking cycle, testosterone is usually injected into the body most times via the thighs, glutes or deltoid muscles. Once the Test enters the body it is then released into the blood over time. The time at which this testosterone takes enter the blood is dependent on the type of testosterone used on your cycle or rather the type of ester which is attached to the
There are 5 main popular types of testosterone available each with its own ester which also has its own release time and life-time in the body. The main flavors which you can get testosterone in are Cypionate, Enanthate and Propionate. These three are all ester based testosterone which means they are attached to an ester which allows them to be released into the blood stream in a timely fashion. The fourth flavor of testosterone available is “Testosterone Suspension” which is often referred to as the purest form of testosterone available, mainly because there is no ester attached. This testosterone is a water based testosterone which is released into the blood stream almost immediately after being injected. The fifth testosterone is called Sustanon or Sostenon, Durateston, Omnadren etc., depending the brand. It is a testosterone blend which means it’s a combination of different esters. Please see below for a more accurate description of each flavor of testosterone so you can decide which one is best for your cycle.
What is The Difference Between The Five (5) Types of Testosterone: Get a better understand of the five types of testosterone so that you can make the best decision as to which one will be most effective on your cycle:
Testosterone Enanthate as the name suggest is attached to the “Enanthate” ester which is usually metabolized over a period of 4 to 5 day and its half-life is 10.5 days, so considering this release time if one wants to maintain a stable level of testosterone in the body using enanthate one should inject it at least once a week.
The Cypionate ester is very popular among body builders who do not want to inject themselves too often. Cypionate is considered to be a “long acting testosterone” because it is usually metabolized over seven to eight days and its half-life is 12 days. So if you are using test cypionate you can administer the injection every 7 days in order to maintain a stable blood testosterone level.
Of the three ester based testosterones, testosterone Propionate is the fastest-acting ester. Testosterone Propionate can reach full dose in the blood within hours of being injected and is metabolized over three days, its half-life is 4.5 days. Those who choose to use Propionate should inject it every day or every 2 days. As this ester has to be administered more often it is usually prescribed only for special cases however one great advantage of this version of testosterone is that it usually stabilizes blood testosterone level very quickly and leads to
less water retention.
Water based or Aqueous testosterone suspension can peak in the blood stream within minutes of being injected and is metabolized very fast. Because Testosterone Suspension remains in the body for a short time, it has to be injected very frequently. In most cases Testosterone Suspension has to be administered daily or few times a day in order to maintain a stable blood testosterone level. If Testosterone Suspension is your preferred choice you can rotate injection spots each time rather than injecting the same location each day. This form of testosterone is not highly recommended and is often used by very experienced and extreme athletes, body builders and power-lifters. This testosterone form give the best strength results and a high aggressiveness. It also exist a testosterone with no ester and oil based called TNE (Testosterone No Ester).
5. Sustanon (Sostenon, Durateston, Omnadren, …)
This is a blend of 4 different esters: testosterone propionate, testosterone phenylpropionate, testosterone isocaproate, testosterone decanoate. Half-life of this product has a range from 4.5 days up to 18 days, due to the different esters. It is very fast acting and also remain for a very long time in the body. It will build up the long acting esters in the body and at the 3 rd weeks you will have a very high amount of testosterone without the need of heavy doses. You should inject Sustanon every 3 days.
